I hope you don't mind me making a poll about this, Sea. But I think we need to come to some sort of decision.
For those who haven't read it yet, in the thread "Limit of Charries" I suggested that maybe we should have a certain limit of characters per member, to try to keep things from getting out of hand like it did on the old site. Then the conversation grew into having a limit on kits per Queen. For on the old site, there were dozens of kits. I advise that you read the thread(which can be found in the questions and suggestion board), if you don't understand what I'm saying.
So here's where I'm getting at. I think that we should all vote on if there should be a limit, which kind of limit, or if there shouldn't be a limit.
Staff members, you guys can decide how long this poll can stay open, because I don't know how long it should.

I think... For the kits, a staffy should randomly pick a number between 2 and 5, and if they want more or less, they can tell us. I dont think we should put 1 in there, cause most people dont want a litter of 1 kit. If they aren't satisfied with how many they got, (Say they got like 5 but they only want 3) they can tell us.
Im confusing myself now.
And as for the charrie limit, I think it should depend on their activity on the site. For someone that gets on every day, like Sea, it should be like, as many as she thinks she can handle. We trust her. For someone like *cough*Starfur or lavvy*cough* we need to limit them a bit. No specific number, just let the staff use their judgment.

I don't mind at all, I like stuff like this. I like the idea of limiting the number of kits queens can have. Maybe whoever has the queen with the hope of having kits should ask a staff member if whatever number she chooses is okay, and the staff member can either approve it or suggest a different number. As for a character limit, I came across another idea. What if you were allowed characters based on the number of posts you had? For instance, a new member could only start with a certain number until he or she reached X amount of roleplay posts, and then he or she would be allowed to create another. This would mean disabling the post counts for all boards outside the roleplay area, but that doesn't particularly matter to anyone, right? For those of you who are bringing over characters from the old site, I think you had reached whatever X amount of posts we would decide to come up with, so any brought-over characters would be allowed regardless of the limit. For instance, say you chose to bring over five characters, but the number of posts you needed to play five characters was 50, and with your low post count, you were only allowed two of them. Well, you could still roleplay all five, but you would need to reach the post count requirement for six characters in order to create or adopt a sixth. Exceptions, as always with CotG it seems, would probably be made somewhere along the line. We aren't really that strict at all here, and I see no reason to be just yet.

I like both of your ideas! Oh, and I didn't mean one kit per litter.

I like Stealth's idea, but we would have to know who really came from the other site. Some random person might see the limit and be all, "Well I want 200 cats, nya!" and go to the old site, register as loads of different people, and get them to bring in the army of cats. You have to think of the eleventy two loopholes! XD
I really like the idea of you staff members choosing the number of kits, we don't want queens with 72 kittens (oh, but she's a SPECIAL CAT... :S)! Although, that has never happened before...
(((Wouldn't it be cool if we had a family tree for each of the clans? It would be kind of trivial, like if we got bored)))
On this other site I was looking at, they had a system where you start out with only being allowed three cats, but if you post X amount of posts or get an award, you are allowed to have more cats accordingly. Like what Stealth was saying.

...Stealth hasn't even posted in this thread...*cough* UHM, ANYWAYZ. I can totally like disable registration on the other site and make it basically unusable. *goes and does so* I was planning to anyway, just didn't know how long to wait. Based on what I've read so far, these are our options: For queens with kits, do we want to A) make it so only staff decides how many kits in the litter, B) allow the roleplayer of the queen to decide, but the number must be approved by a staff member, or C) leave it completely up to the roleplayer of the queen? For the character limit, do we want to D) set an end-all be-all limit that all members must abide to, E) allow members to gain characters through upping their post count through roleplay, or F) completely discard the idea of a character limit? I am voting for B and E. I value the member's freedom above all else, (I hate having to enforce the rules and say no to people) since we've never really had any problems with members in the past, but I do understand what you guys are saying. Since Night and I accept the profiles, we're going to have to be on the lookout for people creating characters that they either can't handle or don't roleplay.

For me the first one is (B). I'm more appeal to the idea of a roleplayer deciding a number, then asking the staff to see if it's okay.
I'm thinking of (D) for my second answer. But I think it should be a higher number than what I had formly suggested. Maybe somewhere between 15 and 20 as the limit? Afterall, you are right, Sea, there are a lot of members who can handle many characters. But I still think that there should be a limit.

I like B and... D, to tell ya the truth. It makes things a helluva lot easier for us staffies. I agree with Bright though, the limit should be like 18 or something.
And like, if we see someone who is creating too many characters, we can just tell them that they need to start roleplaying some of the ones they already have, and we'll accept the profile when they do.

I think that B and D would be good, and the limit should be around 18 or 20. I also think that when staff members accept the amount of kits in a litter, they, as well as the rper of the queen, should accept the people who want to rp the kits.

Wow, I'm a moron. I put D where I had intended to vote E. *doublefacepalm* Uhm...but I'm grossly outnumbered either way. So I guess it doesn't matter. A SET LIMIT IT IS unless somebody else has something to say. Looks like we all agree on B though, which makes me happy. I don't think it should be up to the staff to be doling out characters, deciding who should play another queen's kits. I've never actually seen anybody "deciding" anyway, since those adopting threads usually go something like "My queen's having kits! Tom #1, she-kit #1, and tom #2!" "Can I have she-kit #1 and name her Sparklekit?" "Sure!" I've never actually seen someone refuse to give someone else their kit. It's definitely going to be a rule, though, that when you do adopt a kit, you absolutely MUST post a profile for it before you may begin playing it. Same goes for all other charactres. It just annoys me when I want to find a cat's profile, but they don't have one. Anyway, I believe it should be up to one or both of the parents of the kits to decide who should play their kits. Shameless plug: the same profile rule exists on the Blackblood Alliance Forum, where I love to roleplay...I'm Puffin over there if anyone's interested.
